Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Video Transcription

Jeremy Ashburn: Hey guys, I’m Jeremy Ashburn. I’ve got-

Lissa Juedemann: Lissa Juedemann.

Jeremy Ashburn:We’re here at Silver Leaf Natural Medicine, a local acupuncturist in Asheville, North Carolina. Today we’re just asking some of the main questions that patients ask throughout the year. One of the questions that comes up is, does acupuncture hurt?

Lissa Juedemann: Generally speaking, no, not very much. You might feel that initial insertion of the needle going in, and that tends to dissipate very quickly. We do use very thin needles here. There’s different styles of acupuncture. We tend to use thinner needles and a little bit of a gentler touch. It can also depend on what you have going on in your body. There are some areas that are a little bit more sensitive. But like I said, in general, it’s that initial insertion you’re gonna feel that might feel like a little prick that dissipates quickly, and then of course, we work with each patient individually, take it as slow as they wanna go, and feel out what it’s gonna be like for them. But in general, acupuncture, it’s not a painful experience.

Jeremy Ashburn:If you’re using thinner needle than, say, other acupuncturists, then it would hurt a lot less or it would be hardly any painful at all then?

Lissa Juedemann: Yeah.

Jeremy Ashburn: Definitely. Feel free to call us at 828-254-0353 or SilverLeafNatural.com. You can also find us in social media. Thanks.
