We Combine Functional Biomedicine
with Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture

At Silver Leaf Natural Medicine, we believe in the integration of East and West. During your consultations, we use both traditional Chinese medical diagnostic techniques (like reading the pulses on your wrists), and integrating medical reports and tests from your allopathic doctor to get a complete picture of your level of wellness on every level. We can work with your medical diagnosis and biomedical treatment plan to support your health goals. Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine can be a wonderful complement to pharmaceutical therapy when appropriate, and we always check on drug-herb interactions before prescribing. Functional Medicine is a movement within western biomedicine that takes into account hormone, immunological, and nutritional levels and seeks to balance those with supplementation, rather than drug therapy. At Silver Leaf, we have a deep understanding of Functional Medicine and can use nutraceutical supplementation alongside Acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy as part of your treatment plan. This can be especially important when treating complicated disorders that affect multiple systems of the body, such as chronic infections, cancer, autoimmune disorders, and digestive disorders like Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease.

How Does Acupuncture Help?

Acupuncture is a gentle, relaxing, and rejuvenating technique that releases tension, reduces inflammation and pain, and helps reset the deep patterns of dysfunction in the muscles and nervous system that are at the root of many acute and chronic medical conditions. Acupuncture therapy stimulates the body’s own natural responses to help the body and mind heal itself and keep itself healthy, the way it did before undergoing the stress that caused illness. It is always more beneficial to treat the root of the problem than put a band-aid on it! Acupuncture has been used successfully for relief from a wide variety of conditions for thousands of years, and is helpful for anything from a sports injury to chronic conditions like diabetes, allergies, menstrual disorders, sciatica, migraine headaches, autoimmune diseases, insomnia, depression, and many others. We have trained in multiple styles of acupuncture, both classical and modern, and can comfortably and easily treat you so that you get the maximum response from treatment. To us, you are a participant, not just a patient, and every treatment is explained fully so you know what to expect.

Acupuncture and Laser Therapy for Advance Orthopedic Care

Acupuncture therapy has a long history of success in treating musculoskeletal complaints. In fact, acupuncture, gua sha (muscle scraping), and cupping therapy have all been co-opted by physical therapists in recent years and renamed Dry Needling and Gerson therapy, because of how successful these traditional therapies have been. Unfortunately, they have been modified and are less effective when not administered by fully trained and licensed acupuncturists. We use a variety of different acupuncture and physical therapies like cupping, moxibustion, gentle electrical stimulation of acupuncture needles, and Deep Tissue Laser Therapy to stimulate healing and reduce pain and inflammation. We even use herbal plasters to accelerate healing from trauma and help with recovery from surgical procedures like knee and hip replacements, and herbs and supplements to build the body’s strength and improve soft-tissue healing from within. We treat a wide variety of conditions including tendonitis, joint issues like knee, elbow, and wrist pain, low back pain and sciatica, and neck and shoulder inflammation.
